Pilgrim Congregational Church (second) is built.
1892
Architect: Stephen Earle. Designed in the Romanesque Revival style and originally the Cottage Street Congregational Society, it is located at 540 Columbia Road. The congregation was established in 1862 and met initially at the Dorchester Athenaeum and then in a building on Stoughton Street. It was recognized as an Orthodox Congregational Church in 1867. The church building serves today as a community and social service center and homeless shelter.
